Greetings to all,

I’m often asked what was the inspiration to start Guiding Right, and my answer is always, I responded to a need within the community.

While working at Community Council of Central Oklahoma, I facilitated after school programs for middle and high school students. During that time, I encountered many African American students that were displaying attitudes and behaviors that were challenging. Upon doing home visits, I noticed that most of the students were being raised by their grandparents and other extended family members.

After repeated home visits, I discovered that the parents were either HIV positive or had been diagnosed with AIDS, and were not in treatment and care. Many didn’t know what to do or where to seek assistance without the stigma that unfortunately comes along with the disease.

Guiding Right, Inc. was created to be a bridge to link them to the services that were needed. I feel that if you can’t change the world, you can change the space you are in, one deed, one word, one person at a time.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, I would like to personally thank you for your continued support of Guiding Right, Inc. We have accomplished much and with your help we will accomplish much more.
