M-Power

M- POWER is an effort on the community level to help reduce the burden of tobacco use. The overall goal of the program is to eliminate tobacco-related health disparities among African Americans living in Oklahoma.

About M-Power

M- POWER is Guiding Right’s Tobacco Prevention program. Our goal is to eliminate tobacco-related health disparities among African Americans living in Oklahoma. We focus on policy while also addressing the needs for society and individuals to become tobacco-free, engage in regular physical activities and adopt positive nutrition habits

Tobacco Kills Oklahomans

Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death and disease in the US. For every person who dies from tobacco use, another 20 suffer with a least one serious tobacco-related illness. Tobacco use kills more Oklahomans than alcohol, auto accidents, HIV/AIDS, suicides, murders, and illegal drugs combined. Tobacco use is a major contributing risk factor for the four leading causes of death in Oklahoma – heart disease, stroke, cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
